So first of all I went in originally for the Mirena. I've heard great things but since my Dr. told me Nexplanon is basically the same thing only I wouldn't have the risk of a device floating into my uterus and having to get it surgically removed, I went the implant. Now if your a wuss it may be a painful experience getting this device implanted into your arm, but truthfully, its not so bad and it's very quick to "install". Now what was really crazy, and really funny I must admit, is that when my Dr. put in the implant, the nursing school student who was there observing straight up PASSED OUT! I wasn't looking but apparently watching the procedure isn't for the faint of heart. She was totally fine and had to lay down for a bit but we all got a good laugh out of it!
So once this implant is in apparently you are OK to have unprotected sex right away. I have 2 year old twins and a 4 month old so I am going to keep that info to myself for a couple days while I try and gain some energy! (LOL... Mom's I know you're with me on this one!)
I did have quite a bit of soreness once the local anesthesia wore off to the point of having to take a couple Tylenol. I also have some pretty gnarly black and blue bruises on my arm.
I have noticed if I move my arm a certain way I will have a poking sensation but that has been easing up with time. Ive been able to sleep comfortably as long as my arm is in a comfortable position with no direct pressure on the insertion spot.
So we are over 24 hours in and I am sure it takes much longer than this to tell if it affects your body positively or negatively. Stay tuned of the one month up date!
